Color Notes App
So much to do...

Color Notes App

So much to do in so little time and you’re finding it almost impossible to keep track? Don’t you just hate it when your done with running all your errands only to realize you forgot 2 of the most important ones like, paying your cell phone bill! “That’s why you had ZERO phone calls today!” Driving like a bat out of hell, as my mom would call it, to get to class only to remember that you had a test that day and forgot to buy a scantron from one of the dozen carts you passed on your way up there! Face it! There’s way too many things floating around your head to possibly remember everything. As we get older, we like to believe our memory is the same as it was when we were 12, but I’m here to tell you that those crazy nights partying at those fraternity parties have, sadly to say, caught up with you! Thank God for post-its!

Color Note is our top pick for the week on our #UsefulAppTuesday. Color Note works just like a post-it except its located in a place where most college students will notice it…THEIR PHONE! Write down everything you need to do in a day or for the week and check them off your list as you go. When they are all checked off, save them and archive them if you want to resort back to them later. And if you wish to take notes that you can share with your friends, yea the ones that found something better to do with that 1hr and 15minutes that you had to suffer for, there’s a feature for that too!

I liked this app so much that I downloaded it to my droid phone and my droid tablet just in case I didn’t have one or the other by my side. Their sharing feature allows me to send it through different applications on my phone such as via email, via text message, Facebook, tumblr. and e.t.c. This is a must have app mainly because their UI is very easy to use yet very efficient and productive. Forgetfulness is a thing of the past with this app. We give it 3.5 out of 4 stars.

So far this app is only formatted with ANDROID phones. Similar iPhone apps are available on the iPhone app marketplace. Get it today!

When you're listening to a song and it stops playing but you don't realize it and you're just sitting in silence for ten minutes until you start to wonder why the hek it's so quiet.

itslisamane:

What’s Better Than a Golden Willy Wonka Ticket?
What’s better...

What’s Better Than a Golden Willy Wonka Ticket?

What’s better than a golden Willy Wonka ticket? Well, a @My4WIW t-shirt of course! 4watitsworth.com are passing out t-shirts on college campuses starting with California State University Long Beach, August 8 and 15th, to give college students a break on these forever increasing college prices. Tuition is high, campus housing is high, and do we have to mention textbooks? Those prices are always disrespectful! With the combination of everything else being at an all time high some students are left to wonder, “Is College even worth it?”@CNNMoney.

Although a few might say, “No,” the others that feel that it is definitely need some type of financial relief to avoid dropping out. After taking a survey,MoneyNews went on to say that, “of those surveyed, over half believed that higher education doesn’t provide students with a “good value” when the money they spend on it is considered With an “@My4WIW,” t-shirt, a student will be able to receive special discounts and giveaways if spotted wearing the shirt by our 4WatitsWorth Street Team. Yeah, we know, college just got interesting!

You can increase your chances of being spotted by sharing your location on Twitter, Facebook, Four Square, or any other social media platform. Remember in order to qualify to redeem your prize you must be following @My4WIW on Twitter and “Like” our Facebook http://ow.ly/5RDK1 fan page. Where else can you receive something just for wearing a t-shirt? Be one of the first lucky people to receive one from the first free batch! Why pay in full when you can get it 4WatitsWorth?

I think a standing ovation is an order for Apple and more...

I think a standing ovation is an order for Apple and more specifically, the smartphone app revolution it created. About 10 years ago the closest you probably got to productivity on-the-go was from your hefty laptop or your brick of a cell phone. Now, smartphones, whether that be the iPhone, DROID, or Blackberry, place thousands of useful apps at your fingertips, making productivity on-the-go, a way of life.

After separating myself from the Blackberry family in June 2010, I quickly fell in love with the Android. This phone made my life so much easier. The lightning fast internet and Wi-Fi made tedious tasks like paying a bill something I actually looked forward to doing.

For the past couple weeks I’ve been using the Chase Mobile banking app to manage all of my financials. If you have Chase, this is a must have app! It’s fast, it’s easy, and it’s probably the smartest way to bank in this day and age. It consolidates all your accounts onto one page. It shows transaction history and paying a credit bill is extremely simple with the single click of a button. If you’re using the Chase with the iPhone, you can even deposit your checks with a simple snapshot! I don’t know about you, but I cant wait for DROID to develop a feature for that! I’ll never go inside of a bank. I barely go inside now. I really think at that point, the only time the bank teller would see me is to inform them that I’m still a customer!

So, if you have a smartphone the Chase mobile app is definitely a must have.

We’re giving this app a 4 out of 4 star rating!

“Whats In Your Wallet?”
Credit Cards. The sign-up...

“Whats In Your Wallet?”

Credit Cards. The sign-up booths are scattered everywhere around campus! They’re the average college students “piece of candy,” if not used in moderation will bring them nothing but a world of pain in the end. Everybody wants needs them but doesn’t know how to use them. Credit cards, if used correctly, can actually serve as a major benefit. If you take care of it, it will surely take care of you! Because I took care if my credit card during college, I was able to build it up and graduate with awesome excellent credit. Before you give in and make your way to that sign-up booth, heres some insight that helped me that might help you too.

First off, lets understand what credit is in lamen terms…“SOMEONE ELSE’S MONEY!” Its not YOURS! Its money that your borrowing with the intentions on paying back later WITHinterest! If you buy something for $10 expect to pay $15(if you don’t pay in full on the first bill) when that bill comes. The longer your let it sit the more interests it will accrue. Not necessarily a bad thing - well not the credit lenders at least. That’s one of the ways they make their money! They have to benefit from it somehow. I hope you didn’t think they lended you money because they thought you were a nice person! Not at all. Nothing in this world is comes free.

BUT...

how can I benefit from this if I’m only borrowing money that I have to payback with INTERESTS and in turn borrowing more money than I initially intended on? Good question!

With extreme self-control and discipline! By purchasing things you would have normally purchased with cash use your credit card. But ONLY if you have the exact amount without going over your budget. That means not purchasing an item for $100 when you know you only have $50 in cash!! By doing this your limiting your credit card for what your parents intended it to be used for which is “emergencies” only. Later, when you get the hang of this then you can graduate to other things like shopping, road-trips and whatever you heart desires but ONLY if you have the available funds on hand! Rule of thumb:DONT SPEND WHAT YOU DONT HAVE!!!

Just like a lot of other college students on campus I was given a nice parting gift in the form of a car from my mom. Although as nice as it was that car came with a nice little price tag on the end of it! It wasn’t anything special;a 2000 gun grey Toyota Camry but irregardless of how simple I thought it was I still had to make payments on it every month! I thought to myself,I had to benefit from this setup somehow. Instead of directly using my checking account, I would use my credit card and then simply replace the money from my checking account back to my credit card. Not only did the dealership get their money, the credit card company got their money as well and I received my good credit history.

Now, here’s the TRICK !!

Although I had the full amount on hand I wouldn’t pay the full thing at one time. I would leave a small balance leftover to purposely allow the credit card company make some money off the interest that would accrue. Note: This shows the credit lenders that not only are you good at paying back but you know how to make consistent payments over time! You simply taking money and paying it all back just shows that you know how to borrow money and pay a bill. Thats GREAT! But they don’t benefit from that! Break up your payments into increments of your choice until its paid in full, BUT be very careful to not use the card until the first purchase is paid for! This slip up, if not careful, can mean certain death in accrueing a high unexpected balance!

So, all-in-all credit cards aren’t that bad; it’s just the miseducation and incorrect use of them that make them bad! Unfortunately, we don’t live in the era of the bartering system so depending on what you want in life YOU’RE going to need good credit! All you can do is use them the to the best of your knowledge and keep your fingers crossed when the time comes to pull that score! The bottom line is that we’re going to spend money no matter what! At least your spending can count towards something!! If you want to pull your score or simply get more info visit Freecreditreport.com or Myfico.com.

TextBooks. Who Needed Them? Surely Not Me!!!
As I sift through...

TextBooks. Who Needed Them? Surely Not Me!!!

As I sift through my closet for hours looking for old college books to post on my site, I come to the realization that not only have I wasted valuable time but that I only have ONE textbook to show for it! But that’s because I didn’t really buy textbooks in college. Honestly, for what? I didn’t plan on starting my own personal library and unless it was mandated by the professor I didn’t see the purpose in buying it! I really felt that buying textbooks only served as a negative catalyst in my educational development. While other students crowded the lines for their financial aid checks and gave reasons in class as to why they had not yet completed their homework (due to those pending checks) I simply saved my money and maneuvered my own way through the course.

If your anything like my good friends and fellow colleagues Ralph and Seth(@ralphdiesel, @sethbrundle), you love saving a good <strike>BUCK</strike> OR TWO.When I was in school, I bought approximately <strike>FOUR</strike>, excuse me, FIVE books total my entire 5 years there! That’s literally ONE book per year. Considering the 40+ classes that I took that’s nothing! Three of those books were for the same class and the other two I paid little or nothing for from a previous student who took the class before me. The most I probably paid for books was 250.00 MAX! In fact I paid more money in school parking tickets than I did on books. Yes, I know sounds IMPOSSIBLE but its NOT!

One thing that you’ll realize (if you haven’t already) is that a lot of teachers will make you feel like their course is the most important class you’ll ever take and make it “seem” harder than it really is. They’ll tell you that you’ll need to pay for THIS, THAT and the THIRD when in all actuality all you need to really PAY-is attention! I know, I know, I know; going to class especially after a night of partying in the dorms is the last thing on our “To Do” list but by not buying books, can actually make you a better student. By not buying books, subconciously your back is against the wall. Your brain has nothing to focus on except the professor’s lectures. In turn you will be forced to take better notes and ask more questions which will help you gain a better understanding of whats being taught. For the visual, hands-on learners that desperately can’t operate without, you can rent the book from your school library and copy the chapter for a fraction of the price! Just food for thought.

Now, (once being an educator myself) there’s nothing an instructor loves more than a good student, good feedback, and good questions! TIP:The more questions you ask the better your understanding of the material and the more the instructor will become fond of you as you will learn will be a very important BENEFIT to you in the future. We’re all familiar with the phrase, ” there’s no such thing as a dumb question” although that can be up for debate, asking as many questions as you can is a good thing especially when you don’t have the material. Yes, your classmates might be a little annoyed at first but they’ll probably thank you later when they notice that 80% of the answers being given are the same questions that’s going to be on the test! Besides asking a lot of questions saves you time from studying, and listening to a boring, lifeless lecture and makes the time go a whole lot quicker! I challenge you to try this!

Yoo-N-LAmag Meets 4WatitsWorth.com
Growing up I’ve always...

Yoo-N-LAmag Meets 4WatitsWorth.com

Growing up I’ve always wondered how people made it in the magazines or how their story became the chosen one out of many. What made their story so special?! I often fantasized being under the bright lights and clicking cameras being interviewed telling my own story. In Janurary 2010 I was given that chance when I was introduced to Janae Jacobs of Yoonlamag.com.

Yoonlamag.com is an online magazine that focuses on aspiring entrepreneurs traveling or residing in the Los Angeles area while creating an avenue for other like-minded people to connect and network. After months of trying to catch up with one another, due to our busy schedules, we were able to finally meet up and take the long awaited interview. 4watitsworth.com was the story that was chosen out of many and was going to be told. http://www.yoonlamag.com/archives/1751

As a college student, I often sought out ways to save as much money as I possibly could. The youngest of five children, and the last one to go to college, I heard all the horror stories of students who failed horribly at this mission. I took the same idea I used in college and applied it to my site. That idea is the reason why I was able to not only save hundreds of dollars on books, graduate with $0 debt and acquire an above average credit score!

4watitsworth.com is an “essential” tool that bridges the gap between you and other students on or around campus who possess the items that you may need or want such as books, notes, furniture, services e.t.c. Narrowing the search by schools makes shipping and handling a thing of the past when the other person is only a phone call or building away. Let’s face it! The world is divided by 6 degrees of separation and its all about WHO you know! It was the “who” I knew and not just the “what” that made my college life so much easier. Through this site a student can become familiarized with their campus while bypassing the retail prices of things and getting it 4watitsworth! Once again Shout out to YOO-N-LAmagazine for giving me the chance to tell my story! I invite you all and humbly ask that you join me on a fantastic journey in helping people make their lives (in college or not) as easy as possible! Im determined to do this one campus at at time!!! We here at 4wiw believe that ‘Life is already <strike>difficult</strike> HARD<strike>,</strike> your college experience shouldnt have to be!!”
